This map (compiled by Eric Toner, Center for Biosecurity) showing avian influenza outbreaks since 2003 (including the various clades) was distributed to the ag-security list by Penny J. Hitchcock,Center for Biosecurity-UPMC, 621 E. Pratt Street, Suite 210,Baltimore, MD 21202 on March 28th 2006 and a summary of the animal and human cases.

(Editors Note - The UK dot refers to the case of a parrot in quarantine. There were also positive smuggled eagles in Brussels Airport which are not shown on this map)

Color code to H5N1 map:  

Purple = 2003 genotype V animal outbreaks in Korea and Japan that were eradicated and have not recurred
Blue = genotype Z clade one animal outbreaks. Small dots = 2004 outbreaks, larger dots = 2005 and 2006 outbreaks,
Red = genotype Z clade 2, again small dots = 2004, large dots = 2005 and 2006.
Green = Human cases.
